Welcome to Gladstone Park: Hidden Gem of Northwest Chicago, a website celebrating life in an extraordinary Chicago community that few people know exists. Located in the most livable, culturally-rich large city in America, its safe and vibrant one square mile neighborhood borders on Forest Preserves, overlooks a golf course, and feels like the kind of small town you wish you grew up in.

Hundreds of photographs and accompanying text focus on Gladstone Park’s history; its vintage architecture; the community’s stores, restaurants, churches, schools, and parks; and what life’s like in the community. It is meant to be a resource as well as a historical document about how we got here; how we grew; and how the customs, beliefs and practices that make Gladstone Park unique evolved over time.

Title Page Art
The flower background of the main title is an example of Wycinanki, the Polish papercut folk art, in a nod to the many Poles who settled Gladstone Park and remain influential in the neighborhood today. The line drawing depicts the predominant vintage architecture of the community, featuring (left to right) a Dutch Colonial, an English Tudor, a Georgian, a bungalow, an American foursquare, and a two-flat.
